The development of the U19 is more linear and logical than the other categories with the teams having collected in the last round what they built in the first two days. Sicily, Marche, Sardinia, Calabria and Basilicata confirm all the good shown in the first two days and go to the quarterfinals. Friuli VG and Piemonte Vda are also ok with a final twist.
Group A – La Marche took a risk with Basilicata who stopped the leaders at 3-3. In the end, Mr. Neri’s team managed to remain at the top of the table thanks to two goals from Marchionni, four in total for him. Filippo, Lucisano and Fortunato had brought the Lucanians one step away from success. However, Basilicata can rejoice because it enters the group of the best runners-up. Umbria finished the group with their heads held high with a 6-3 victory over Campania. Morell Gomez was unleashed and scored a poker (7 goals in the TDR).
B – Veneto mocked Tuscany. Both with four points but the goal difference rewarded Moro’s team. The Venetians managed to beat Lazio 5-1 with Favero and Grishaj in great form (two braces).
Group C – Sicily and Sardinia, having built the right conditions, protected themselves from last minute surprises. Sicily won the direct match 4-2 but both teams progressed to the quarter-finals. Sciortino’s team capitalized on a first half that ended 3-0 with goals from Brancato (a brace) and Saine. The consolation match between Liguria and Molise goes to the Ligurians
Q – When three teams finish on equal points it is always a shame that there are only two places in the quarter-finals. The separate ranking rewards Friuli VG and Piemonte VdA, Abruzzo slipped to last. The Piedmontese left Emilia Romagna no chance (6-0). The doubles from Maggio and Trentacoste made the difference. Selector Della Negra’s team managed the direct clash with Abruzzo in the best possible way. After a balanced first half, FVG improved and secured the result. Doubles from Sestili and Di Giusto led the match.
Group E – Calabria needed at least a draw to finish the group in first place. Puglia held at 0-0, goal achieved. Lombardy, with a burst of pride, blocked the way to Trento, which they beat 7-4. Man of the match Marigliani Valente with five goals.
