The next meeting of Knowledge Fridays in Diano Marina promises to be an unmissable opportunity to explore the link between science, nutrition and health. Posted in the calendar of Aromatic – the great exhibition dedicated to basil, aromatic herbs and agri-food excellence, on stage since 3 to 5 May in Diano Marina – the event will take place Friday 3 May at 4.00 pm in the Council Room in Piazza Martiri della Libertà. The meeting “The future of food or the food of the future?” raises crucial questions regarding our individual and collective well-being. It is known that people’s health largely depends on the food they eat, the water they drink and the air they breathe. But how can these variables influence our gene expression and, consequently, our health?

The ecological transition can certainly improve the ecosystem and guarantee better living conditions, but to significantly impact health, a food transition is also necessary. The latter must promote nutritional education and encourage making informed choices regarding food. A healthy and personalized diet based on everyone’s genetic predispositions can help reduce disease risks, strengthen immune responses and influence metabolic function.

The meeting will be introduced by Dr. Cecilia Bartolucci – Degree in chemistry with specialization in biochemistry, CNR researcher – who will talk about the impact of nutrition on health. Bartolucci plays the role of President of the Comitans Foundation, an organization that supports initiatives aimed at promoting education, culture and scientific research. Next to her, the Prof. Eleuterio Ferrannini, internationally renowned diabetologist, Research Director at the CNR, Prof. University of Pisa and Prof. at the University of Texas “Health Science Center” in San Antonio Texas, Member of the Italian Society of Diabetology, former President of European Association for Diabetes Studies. Giorgio Einaudi, member of the scientific committee that promotes Knowledge Fridays, he will be the moderator of the meeting on Friday 3 May. Einaudi it’s physical, Scientific director of the CNR Foresight Project, member of the Comitans Foundation, former Professor at the University of Pisa and Scientific Advisor to the Italian Embassy in Washington.

Knowledge Fridays are open to everyone: entry to the conferences is free, but we recommend sending confirmation of participation by writing to [email protected] or by accessing the Eventbrite platform at http://tinyurl .com/VdKnowledge. Participation in this special debate, included in the busy calendar of initiatives over the Aromatica weekend (3-5 May), offers the opportunity to better understand the connections between food, health and science, and to receive valuable ideas for adopt more conscious eating habits oriented towards individual and collective well-being.
