Tesla Model Y fans in the United States have two reasons to celebrate the world’s best-selling vehicle.
First, Tesla is now offering Model Y units in Quicksilver in inventory following the launch of this multi-layered shade alongside the Midnight Cherry Red color in Europe. The new Model Y color isn’t free, however, and costs $2,000 more as an option.
What’s more interesting, however, is a new instant state rebate that brings the price of a brand new Model Y down to the levels of rumored Model 2 pricing.
Instead of launching a $25,000 car, Tesla can now boast of offering the nation’s cheapest Model Y below that price, thanks to Washington State’s new EV instant rebate, up to $9,000.
These incentives, combined with the $7,500 federal tax credit and $2,557 state sales tax rebate, bring the price of a $42,610 inventory Model Y to a staggering $23,553 on a lease 3 years, or $4,000 more if purchased outright or leased for less than 3 years.
This is the level of the rental company’s cheapest used Tesla Model 3 in hot sales. The caveat? Family income.
“Under the new program, Washington residents earning up to $45,180 per year for a single person, or $93,600 for a family of four, can receive up to $9,000 for a new EV lease of three years or more, or up to $5,000 towards the purchase of a new EV or a two-year lease“says the Washington State Department of Commerce, with leases now starting at just $56 a month:

- Nissan Leaf: $87 per month
- Hyundai Ioniq 6: $93 per month
- Subaru Solterra: $123 per month
- Tesla Model 3: $127 per month

“THEUsed electric vehicles are also eligible for a $2,500 discount for both purchase and leasing“, the site adds. The income threshold is slightly lower than that of the federal tax credit, which is $150,000 for single or married people separating.
The generous $9,000 discount is obviously aimed at the median household income in Washington State, which was $91,306 in 2022.
