Train accident in Villastellone, elderly man killed when hit by a train. He was pulled out alive by the firefighters

The 66-year-old has died extracted alive this morning from under the railway train. Unfortunately, the intervention of the firefighters was not enough. The injuries sustained were too serious and the man died in hospital.

He had been overwhelmed from a train of the metropolitan railway service at the station Villastellone, in the Turin area, and at first he was miraculously saved. The accident occurred at 10 this morning. Firefighters intervened on site and lifted the carriage to extract the elderly man, who, despite the impact, survived for a few hours.

Polfer investigators are investigating to precisely reconstruct the dynamics of what happened and understand whether it was an accident or a suicide attempt. Train service was suspended. The man was hit by a convoy on the Alba-Ciriè route. The train was repeating in the direction of Cirié when the elderly man was hit. The driver braked to try to avoid it and also rang several times to get the man away from the tracks. It was then he who alerted the emergency services, the passengers were let off. Rail service on the route is suspended.
