CASTELFRANCO VENETO – The stubbornness of Derio Turcato, president of the Histoire association and son of partisan Olga Bernardi, made it possible to remedy a situation that was, to say the least, unfortunate which he had denounced for the umpteenth time yesterday, the day after April 25th. There Liberation Day from Nazi-fascism to Castelfranco Veneto, in fact, it had been celebrated with magical pomp in the city center but once again the memorial stones and tombstones of the partisans murdered in the castle hamlets had been forgotten, despite Turcato’s warning a few weeks ago. But as a famous popular adage says “all’s well that ends well” and without rehashing amnesia and neglect, credit should be given to those who took action. L’ANPI yesterday he contacted Derio Turcato giving him the mandate to purchase the flowers to place in front of the memorial stones and tombstones of the partisans Gino Didonè, Angelo Bobbato and Pierfrancesco Venezze.
The president of the Histoire association then consulted with Giovanni Bobbato (Angelo’s relative) which in turn involved the Alpines locals. The Black Feathers they therefore rolled up their sleeves, mowing the grass in the affected areas and renewing the gravel of the small commemorative monuments, to restore decorum to the sites. Then, with a simple but heartfelt ceremony, flowers were placed in each memorial site. A nice epilogue to a story that had cast a shadow on the celebrations of April 25th in Castelfranco Veneto. Now all that remains is to hope that from next year the authorities will consider it among the places to be honoredfor Liberation Day, even those in which they lost their young lives, the martyrs of freedom Gino Didonè, Angelo Bobbato and Pierfrancesco Venezze.
