Predappio (Forlì), 27 April 2024 – Tomorrow they will take place in Predappio the traditional events to remember the 79th anniversary of the killing of Benito Mussolini, which took place on 28 April 1945. The meeting is at 10.30 in Piazza Sant’Antonio, from where the procession will start for the cemetery of San Cassiano.

For a couple of years the organization has no longer been in the hands of the Arditi d’Italia section of Ravenna, as was the case for a long time, but Angela Di Marcello in a personal capacity, responsible for the service that a group of volunteers carries out at Benito Mussolini’s crypt, on behalf of the great-granddaughters of the Duce Orsola and Vittoria Mussolini.

These gave their consent to the initiative, although they did not participate in the procession, but only in the conclusions in the square in front. The procession it should end with a greeting to those present from Orsola, who defines the event as “a commemoration of her grandfather”, and with the ritual prayers, without the Roman greetings, possibly replaced by placing the hand on the heart.

At the end, the participants will go as usual to visit the Duce’s tomb, reopened three years ago in May 2021, after the restoration, and visited in these three years by around 80-100 thousand people. Explains Orsola Mussolini: “Looking at the signatures in the registers on the tomb, we can say that visits in recent times have been increasing, not only for celebratory occasions, but also throughout the year.”

Not many people are expected for tomorrow, “because the most popular date is the anniversary of the March on Rome in October”. Tomorrow, at 11.30 in the church of the parish church of San Cassiano, where Mussolini was baptized, a memorial mass will also be celebrated for the deceased members of the family, organized by the heirs.
