Rather black day for Italians at Madrid Open. On Friday both Lorenzo Musetti that Luciano Darderi they said goodbye to the Spanish Masters 1000. The former lost in two sets against the Brazilian Wild (4-6, 4-6); the Italian-Argentine instead stopped against the American Fritz (6-7, 4-6).

Musetti arrived in Madrid with many expectations but was unable to keep up with the class of 2000 Seyboth Wild who certainly did not start as the underdogs.
Furthermore, a defeat in two sets for the Italian who will now have to try to make up for it in Rome during the Internazionali d’Italia at the Foro Italico.
Darderi’s match was different, however, as he played against No. 13 in the ATP ranking Taylor Fritz. The Italian-Argentine managed the first set very well, losing in the tie-break after holding the first two serves scoreless. In the second set he also felt a bit tired and was unable to be as effective in his shots as he was at the beginning of the match. After defeating the French Monfils in the first round, Darderi stops against the American.
