This morning, precisely at 9.30 am, a request for help reached the operations center of the Messina Fire Brigade via the Single Emergency Number (NUE). The situation required timely intervention in an impervious area located in Gravà, in the territory of the Municipality of Francavilla di Sicilia.
Faced with this call, the authorities reacted promptly: a team of firefighters from the Letojanni detachment was immediately sent to the site, accompanied by the emergency helicopter, “Drago 148”, with a crew of air rescuers from the helicopter unit of Fontanarossa Catania.
The helicopter, a vital tool in emergency situations in difficult-to-reach terrain, was dispatched as a precaution to ensure efficient and rapid rescue in the affected area.
Once they arrived at the scene of the accident, air rescuers found an injured elderly man. With competence and speed, they proceeded to immobilize him on a stretcher, ready for the transfer.
Using the winch supplied with the helicopter, the elderly man was hoisted on board safely and immediately transported to the Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania to receive the necessary care and medical checks.
