Four Yemeni national employees died in a drone attack that hit the gas field Khor Mor, located between the cities of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah, in the Autonomous Region of Iraqi Kurdistan. The Kurdish regional government reported this in a statement, quoted by the Kurdish-Iraqi portal “Rudaw”, stating: “Unfortunately, four Yemeni workers have been killed so far and the camp has been seriously damaged, which will significantly affect the shortage of electricity”. For the moment, the attack has not been claimed.
The raid caused the interruption of gas supplies to power plants, resulting in a reduction of around 2,500 megawatts of electricity, according to the Ministry of Electricity of Kurdistan Iraqi government, specifying that operations in the field have been suspended. In recent years, unclaimed Katyusha rocket attacks have targeted the same complex multiple times, without causing significant damage. Last January, two Katyushas targeted the field, causing an explosion but causing no casualties.
