Thirty weeks, and then five days. This is how long the life of Sabreen Jouda, the premature Palestinian baby who was five days ago, lasted taken alive from her dead mother’s womb, in Rafah, after the Israeli air strike on Saturday at midnight. His mother Sabreen al-Sakani, thirty weeks pregnant, died in the attack; his father and four-year-old sister died; after five days in the incubator she also died.
The news was given to the media by his uncle, Rami al-Sheikh. First responders had taken him to the hospital the mother’s body, and pulled the baby out with an emergency caesarean section. The baby was kept in an incubator in a neonatal intensive care unit at another hospital until she died five days later. Al-Sheikh told The Associated Press that she was buried next to her father.
