Steph Curry won the 2023-24 Clutch Player of the Year

Even in an overall very negative season, which ended with the elimination from the Play-in at the hands of the Sacramento Kings, Steph Curry puts an award on the bulletin board, that of Clutch Player of the Year.

This is the most recent (and perhaps also the least renowned) individual award introduced by the NBA and takes into consideration, as the name suggests, situations of clutch. That is, the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter plus any extra time, when there are 5 or fewer points between the two teams. In this category Curry preceded DeMar DeRozan, second, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, third.

In particular, Steph Curry scored 298 points against DeRozan’s 272, much further behind SGA. https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1783635357961015760.

This is only the second edition of the Clutch Player of the Year, last year De’Aaron Fox won it. In this season Curry scored a total of 189 points in the clutch, first in the NBA, shooting 50% from the field and 46% from three in these situations. He also scored 59 baskets and 32 triples.
