The podium therefore goes to the horse Unamore, ridden bareback by jockey Alessandro Cersosimo.
Second place for Croci with the horse Daisa AA and the jockey Sanna. Poggio came third instead with the horse Denise Beauty and the jockey Mula.
The historic Bomarzo horse race thus has its winner also for this 2024 edition. The highly anticipated event will take place today afternoon, April 25th. Hundreds of people met in the stands. The party is therefore for the pink and black colored district.
A tradition, with ancient origins, which is part of the celebrations in honor of the patron saint Sant’Anselmo, which are held from 22 to 25 April. Some sources trace the origin of the race back to 1600.
The event consists of a horse race with bareback jockey which is contested by the five districts or districts: Dentro, Borgo, Poggio, Croci and Madonna del Piano. The race is held in Fossatello.
The winner is given the banner called “Palio” which will then be kept in the church of his district.
A race in which the jockeys are particularly committed and attentive to all the delicate phases of the race.
This afternoon there were several false starts, but then the horses took off giving great emotions to the public present.

Anselmo was the bishop-lord of Bomarzo who lived, according to tradition, in the 6th century. Among the celebrations in honor of him, in addition to the palio which is in its 39th edition, also the biscuit festival, which this year is in its 51st edition. The birth of this dessert, which is similar in shape to a donut, dates back to the 5th century AD when the then bishop Anselm had a sweet bread prepared, the “Pane di Sant’Anselm”, to offer it to the poor and pilgrims who from the Via Francigena.
