LG announced the Italian prices of OLED TVs And QNED 2024. So let’s talk about news announced at CES which will arrive in stores soon. At the same time as the price information, a promotion was also launched which allows you to purchase some large diagonal OLEDs in combination with a soundbar. We will return to the details later. All televisions have in common the use of webOS, the proprietary operating system that forms the basis for LG Smart TVs. All the products we talk about in this article are equipped with webOS 24 and adhere to the webOS Re:New programwhich it predicts updates for 5 years.

In practice, each product will receive all updates for the current version of the operating system in its first year of life. In the following years, 4 webOS updates will arrive to the versions released subsequently. The first update will be available two years after launch: webOS 2025 can therefore be installed on the 2024 TV range in 2026. All televisions are also equipped with new generation Alpha processors: ranging from the new Alpha 11 And Alpha 8 to the updates of Alpha 9 And Alpha 5.

Let’s see the main features and prices of all the series:

The series M4 is made up of four models from 65″, 77”, 83” And 97”. The panels of the first three cuts are OLED WRGB Ultra HD with second generation MLA technology, capable of reaching a peak luminance of 3,000 nits in certain conditions. The M4s have a refresh rate that can go up to 144 Hz with the exception of 97″, which instead reaches up to 120 Hz. The larger cut is also distinguished by the absence of the aforementioned MLA technology. However, there are the benefits given by OLED evo technology but without the micro-lenses.

The peculiarity of the M4 OLEDs is given by the wireless connectivity: the sources connect to the Zero Connect external box which also includes three HDMI 2.1 inputs with all functions: Ultra HD at 120Hz / 144Hz, Auto Low Latency Mode, Quick Media Switching, Variable Refresh Rate in the form of HDMI Forum VRR, FreeSync Premium by AMD e G-Sync by NVIDIA, an entry with eARC. Communication between screens and boxes is designed to ensure very low latency. The Alpha 11 processor completes the equipment, HDR in formats HDR10, HLG And Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos And WOWCAST. The panels are guaranteed for 5 years.

As with the M4 we have Ultra HD panels with MLA technology and 144 Hz, with the exception of the 97″. The design features a thin and uniform thickness, with grooves positioned to pass the cables and keep the wall installation clean, which is the considered ideal for this series. However, you can also use the pedestal which this year is included if you choose the appropriate version: the G4s have the bracket while the G4S are equipped with a table stand.

For the rest there is only one other aspect that differentiates the G4 from the M4: HDMI connectivity. Obviously the G4s are not equipped with a wireless external box but integrate all the connectors on the body of the TVs. The HDMI 2.1 inputs increase to fourall with the full 48 Gbps bandwidth and with the same functions already described for the M4 series.

The series QNED89 it is composed only of the new 98″ which shares the characteristics of the QNED85 series and related variants. However, there is an important difference: the backlighting is LED (conventional) type Full LED Array with local dimming. QNEDs match i Quantum Dot to technology NanoCell to expand the coverage of larger color spaces. The LCD panel should be of the VA type and is not the exception in the QNED 2024 range, which offers a mix of VA and IPS depending on the model and diagonal.

However, LG has not provided a specific list, which is why it will be necessary to inform yourself well before purchasing. QNED89 has a refresh rate of 120Hz and is equipped with the processor Alpha 8. As on the other TVs mentioned in the article, we have it here too four HDMI 2.1 ports with all the features.

The series QNED86 And QNED87 they are variants of the QNED85 series announced at CES 2024. The equipment does not change: the changes are purely aesthetic or dictated by the need to identify models intended for specific regions. As we wrote above, the specifications are almost the same as the QNED89 series, so much so that in some countries, for example the United States, the product sheets of QNED89 and lower denominations are grouped together, although they maintain a different name. However, on the QNED86 and QNED87 the backlighting changes Edge LED with local dimming.

There are five proposed cuts: 50″, 55″, 65″, 75″ And 86″. At a design level we point out that these TVs are defined Super Slim due to a (uniform) thickness reduced to 29.7 millimeters on cuts up to 65″ and 30.9 millimeters on 75″ and 86″. The base can be raised to accommodate a soundbar on the front while on the back there is a system to keep cables tidy and channel them towards the back.

The QNED80 are also Super Slim and differ from the QNED86 and QNED87 especially due to the lack of 120 Hz, which is also reflected in some functions (the Variable Refresh Rate is missing) and in the connectivity, which should make available HDMI 2.0b with eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode. The processor is theAlpha 5 seventh generation.
