Albenga. A vandalism gesture, a possible act of intimidation or someone’s stunt. In fact, the author of the writing: “Podio dead”, which appeared today on the wall of the Lungocenta underpass, is not known, but it gives an indication that the electoral climate is heating up in the Ingauna town.

Today, April 25th, the area is particularly busy, because it is the road that leads to the sea and to the fort of the mouth, where this morning the celebrations and the remembrance of the martyrs of freedom were held. Some passers-by noticed and reported the writing that appeared on the wall.

“It is with profound indignation that I learn that I have been the subject of a death threat, reported on a wall in our city – comments candidate Nicola Podio on his Facebook page -. I wish to categorically condemn this vile and cowardly act, which not only attacks me personally, but also undermines the fundamental principles of democracy and civil respect. Violence and intimidation will never be able to find space in our city. As a candidate for mayor, I believe in the power of dialogue, discussion and mutual respect.”

“I will never allow gestures of this nature to influence my path and that of my team towards a more inclusive and safe Albenga. I will continue to work with dedication and transparency, trying to make my ideas known to all Albenga residents. Thanks to the many friends and supporters who wanted to show me their support and solidarity.”
