New road system in Impruneta, “fire and flames” meeting between the mayor, council and CCN traders

IMPRUNETA – “Fire and flames” from the Impruneta town hall yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 24 April, after a closed-door meeting between the mayor Riccardo Lazzerini (with the council) and the Impruneta traders of the CCN.

The issue, needless to say, is the new road system and its consequences.

In fact, last week the traders met privately to discuss and propose to the municipal administration some changes to be made to the new road system so that the “damage” in terms of revenue was limited.

The day after the meeting, Lazzerini, having learned of the traders’ meeting, in turn called a meeting with them, to listen to their opinion and discuss things together.

The meeting began yesterday early afternoon, with most of the traders from the CCN. Who proved to be very united in their requests, even representing those not present (for whom however they had the delegation).

It seems that the first part of the meeting was constructive, with a fair discussion and the possibility of arguing on both sides.

As can easily be imagined, the main request of the traders was the restoration of the one-way system from Piazza Buondelmonti to Piazza Accursio da Bagnolo, which however would appear to be non-negotiable.

According to Lazzerini, in fact, once the works are finished, thanks also to the busy calendar of events scheduled for the next few months, the square would attract many people, so as to compensate for the lower flow of people due to the one-way street.

However, it would seem that it was pointed out to him that the events organized so far, especially those starting in the evening, have not been of much help to shopkeepers.

Lazzerini, for his part, as stated immediately, would have asked again for patience and to wait a few months after the completion of the works to be able to give a definitive judgment and identify the major critical issues/solutions.

But the situation is tense, very tense: there is talk of a drop of up to 40% in the income of many activities. Even the danger of redundancy for employees, if not of permanent closure.

And it is precisely the council’s request for information on the drop in revenue that precipitated the situation.

It seems that tempers have heated up and very heavy words have been uttered.

“Our full and heartfelt solidarity with all the traders of Impruneta – they report from the opposition Voltiamo Pagina Impruneta – We will look into the issue further and bring it to the city council: it cannot end here”.

“As an administration – is the statement released by the mayor to Gazzettino del Chianti – we have proposed a permanent table with a monthly deadline to evaluate any critical issues together from time to time”

Traders will now have to identify a delegation to attend the permanent discussion table.
