Cadenazzo: a warehouse on fire, Tavolino Magico suspends distribution

The fire broke out in the same building where the association has its central warehouse. Before resuming service, the condition of the goods must be checked

CADENAZZO – A warehouse caught fire this morning around 8.30 in via Industrie in Cadenazzo. TicinoNews reports this, adding that the building concerned is the same one where the Tavolino Magico central warehouse is located. 40 people were evacuated due to smoke, while the condition of the goods is to be assessed, which is why food distribution will be suspended for today. “We must first check the condition of the goods, as we have both dried and canned and fresh foods”, explained Simonetta Caratti, representative of the association which distributes around 3 tons of food every day to people in need. “Today the distribution of food will certainly be interrupted, also because we will have to tidy up and clean since it is currently full of earth. We serve around 3,000 people weekly, but we cannot guarantee when the service will resume.”

According to initial information, the flames broke out from a machine inside the warehouse. Cadenazzo firefighters intervened on site for fire extinguishing and evacuation operations, as well as cantonal police officers to investigate the case. According to initial information, there are no injuries. Via Industria was closed to traffic to facilitate rescue operations.
