TO Campolongo It’s the day of the funeral of little Francesco Pio, the 13-month-old baby who died after being bitten by two Bull Terrier typecurrently referred to as Pitbull (there was no genetic analysis in this regard nor other reports or diagnoses relating to the psychophysical state of the dogs) owned by friends of the little one’s family.
Mario Eboli, the Mayor of the small town in the province of Eboli said the citizen mourning and today, even more so, should be the day of silence. In fact, we will only be able to talk when we get to a trial and after the three levels of judgement, as would be correct to do in all cases in which there is such a tragic death and in the meantime it would be useful to concentrate on information that helps people to understand why such tragedies, unfortunately, happen. All this while waiting for the judiciary to do its job, to verify the human responsibilities in animal management and that someone competent in the dog world deals with the rehabilitation recovery of the latter.
In the register of suspects the Salerno Prosecutor’s Office has registered five people for complicity in manslaughter for failure to look after the dogs. The child’s mother, the two humans responsible for the dogs (husband and wife to whom one and the other are registered) and Francesco Pio’s uncles who were present at the time of the tragedy are being investigated.
The outcomes of the autopsywhose details we do not report on Kodami out of respect for the victim’s family, confirmed the death due to the aggressive behavior of the two dogs. Pablo and Totò, the two Bull Terriers, were removed from the house where the horrible event occurred, and are now in the D0g’s Town facility in Pignataro Maggiore in the province of Caserta. For dogs, a path is hoped for in which there is behavioral evaluation by an expert veterinarian in order to be able to proceed with rehabilitation programs with qualified instructors.
