THE HOSPITAL “SAVES” HER FINGER, WINS THE GOLDEN LION

THE HOSPITAL “SAVES” HER FINGER, WINS THE GOLDEN LION

There is also a bit of the Padua Hospital in the Golden Lion at the Venice Art Biennale attributed to a Maori women’s collective from New Zealand.

The four artists created an environmental installation by weaving polyester bands stretched through tie rods arranged along the walls, recalling the traditional mats used especially during childbirth.

A tribute to the Maori tradition whose joy, however, risked being ruined: during the installation of the work, in fact, one of the four artists risked losing a finger, which got stuck in one of the bands.

However, the intervention of the Plastic Surgery department of the Padua Hospital was providential, thanks to the intuition of the doctor on duty at the time, who decided to use vein grafts.

Also very curious is the fact that some leeches were used to save her finger.

Once the patient is discharged and will soon recover full use of her finger, the good news comes: the victory of the Prestigious Golden Lion.
