L’Audace wins the First Category Puglia Cup

Just over two years after the triumph of ASD Barletta 1922 in the Puglia Cup of Excellence, Barletta football returns to write its name in the roll of honor of amateur football made in Puglia, triumphing in the First Category Puglia Cup, thanks to ‘Audace Barletta 1958, a club reborn from the ashes of the team of the same name that reached the Eccellenza championship before handing over the sporting title to the late Dibenedetto Trinitapoli in the 2020/2021 season.

This prestigious Audace game comes at the end of a hard-fought second leg final which saw coach Beppe Iannone’s boys resist the incessant attacks of the very capable Squinzano team until the 95th minute, a team fresh from a triumphant journey in Group C of the Second Category and capable of conquering Manzi Chiapulin thanks to a beautiful goal from Resinato which reached the culmination of a match that was dominated at times and which saw the Audace in trouble as has rarely happened this season.
The 2-0 achieved in Salento two weeks ago thanks to goals from Laboragine and Lomuscio was decisive for the triumph of Ruggiero Rizzi and his teammates.

While waiting for the playoffs to take place, the victory of the First Category Puglia Cup places Audace Barletta in an already more than privileged position in the ranking for an almost certain repechage in the Promotion, unfortunately given the difficult economic situation of many teams, both Promotion and of Eccellenza, with the fate of Maracanà San Severo itself in doubt, fresh winner of Group A of the First Category right ahead of the Audace.

But there will be time and a way to talk about the future, for the Audace it is now time to enjoy this prestigious and well-deserved affirmation in the Cup. A milestone, we repeat, achieved just three years after the 2021 reset.
