What happened

The investigation, conducted by Switch, has reviewed approximately 430,000 bills in the past year. The research found that by opting for the cheapest offer, consumers in central Italy could save on average €183 per year. In the north, south and islands, the average annual savings could be €191.

Switcho advised against switching suppliers in just 10% of cases, suggesting that only one in ten are getting the best possible price.

The survey also highlighted significant regional differences. In Sardinia, for example, the average saving was €222 in the last twelve months, while in Valle d’Aosta it was €137.

Because it is important

According to Switcho, various factors can influence electricity and gas bills, including the difficulty in understanding the conditions of the offers subscribed to and the complexity of searching and comparing offers. These data underline the importance of an informed and conscious choice of energy supplier, as well as the need for greater transparency in the sector.
