At Kayas train station in the Mamak neighborhood of Ankara, Turkey, a stray dog waits on the station platform. When he sees a train coming his tail starts wagging with joy, and he starts running with all his strength alongside it as if he was waiting for someone special. And it’s like this, every day.
Making that meeting special is Semih Mumcu, 30 years old, a train engineer temporarily assigned to manage trains at Kayas station. During his stay there he got to know that stray dog that lived in the station. When the man discovered that the four-legged friend didn’t have a family, he started feeding him some food and it was the beginning of a bond of trust, friendship and loyalty.
The most incredible thing is that the dog not only recognized Semih’s face, but also knew the exact time the train driver arrived at the station: when he saw him, the dog started running along the train and knew exactly where to stop. To testify to that special relationship, Semith filmed one of those waits and races and published it on his Instagram page (@mumcu.semih): “There is always someone waiting for everyone – he writes in the video -. He is waiting because he knows it. He also knows the hour and the minute I will arrive, and he runs because he knows that this is not the place where his belly will be filled.”
Many comments on this video: “What a rich person inside you are” writes one user, while another: “Is the video blurry or am my eyes full of tears?” Unfortunately Semih didn’t stay at that station for long: he was in Ankara for a period of only 20 days. “I started feeding the dog from the first day I noticed his presence. After that I returned to Kayseri,” Semih wrote. But this moment will definitely remain alive in their hearts, no matter where life takes them.
