Yesterday evening, around 10.50pm, the Messina Fire Brigade was alerted to a fire that broke out at number 36 of Via Nazionale, in the locality of Giampilieri Marina. The emergency required rapid intervention to avoid major damage to the structure and to guarantee the safety of the inhabitants of the area.

A fire brigade team from the headquarters was promptly deployed to the site of the accident. The immediate objective was to contain the flames that had spread to the roof of a residential house, coming from the chimney. The flames, already well developed when rescuers arrived, risked spreading to the surrounding buildings, putting further lives and property at risk.

To put out the fire and prevent its spread, the coordinated use of various specialized fire brigade vehicles was necessary. Tank fire trucks, pump tankers, ladder trucks and pick-ups with firefighting modules were used jointly to deal with the emergency and bring the situation under control.

Despite the seriousness of the event, fortunately there were no injuries or poisonings reported. It is thanks to the promptness and efficiency with which the Fire Brigade teams operated in the field, under the guidance of team leader Lo Faro. After having completely extinguished the fire and eliminated any possible residual danger, the teams returned to the site around 2:00 am.

The intervention of the Fire Brigade was not the only element of response to this emergency situation. The local Carabinieri station of Giampilieri Marina also intervened on site, actively collaborating with the rescuers to ensure the safety of the area and its inhabitants.
