It tells the story of the first 30 years of Gianna Nannini’s lifechildhood, wounds, falls, obstinacy, integrity, genius, success, “You are in the soul”, out May 2nd.
The film is taken from “Sei Nell’Anima – Cazzi Miei”, the artist’s autobiography.
Directed by Cinzia TH Torrinihas its great strength in its protagonist, Letizia Toni.
For It was particularly exciting for Gianna Nannini to see her life unfold on the screen.
“It thrilled mewhen I was kicked out of the choir, I had a moment of pain, I was 7 years old – his comment – I relived through the places particular moments of truth that there is in this film. Basically it’s something that excited me, yes” remembers the singer-songwriter.
While Toni comments, “He cried all the time and I said: but it’s a movie!”
In the film there are many passages in the artist’s life, including that of 1983, the year in which he hit rock bottom and was reborn.
“There is the great transition between my previous life, the one I consider dead in a certain sense, up to “America”, then to “GN” as a record – explained Nannini – this thing starts again with “Fotoromanza”, then after “Latin lover”, the album with which I found my Mediterranean musical identity.
What you call rebirth is the most lost moment in me, with the loss of the self, which I find only after many years. However in these years, like a chakra that opens, a hat that opens, all these melodies that were post-Photoromance have entered me. Because “Fotoromanza” was precisely the moment of true birth”
It emerges from the film how obstinacy and integrity were Nannini’s true winning weapons. And her interpreter looks a lot like her.
“I went looking for his entire journeystarting right from childhood, from its places and the sensations that she could really feel – Tony said – I tried to relive them as much as possible to feel the character first hand”
And for Nannini, “I compare her to Robert De Niro, in terms of skill, because by immersing herself in the character, as she invented it, she truly lived it at any cost…”
