Massa Finalese (Modena), 24 April 2024 – He fought until the end but unfortunately he didn’t make it. Giuseppe Carrino, 18 year old resident in Massa Finalese, he died on Monday evening at Baggiovara hospital where he had been hospitalized in intensive care since Friday 5 April following a violent road accident.

Immediately Giuseppe’s conditions were very serious: it was around 7.30pm when, in Massa Finalese, the 18-year-old was traveling along via Monte Bianco on his motorbike, when, due to investigations by the Carabinieri of Finale Emilia, who intervened for the investigations, the motorbike collided with a Grande Punto which exited via Carducci onto the road. The impact was terrible: the motorcyclist was thrown for several meters, suffering severe head and chest trauma. The air ambulance took him to Baggiovara hospital, where he underwent delicate surgery.

The news of his death quickly spread to Massa Finalese, where the 18 year old lived with his father Vincenzo and his father’s partner, Angela: all of them the family is originally from Afragola (Naples) and moved to Massa Finalese when Giuseppe was little. Throughout yesterday, there was a constant coming and going from the house on via Grandi: friends, relatives, work colleagues or sports companions. “We are shocked by what happened – says a family friend –. Many times Giuseppe came here to the shop with dad or with Angela who raised him like a son. She herself told me that there seemed to be an improvement in his conditions. We all hoped but then… something happened, everything came to a head and Giuseppe is no longer with us.”

“Men are one-winged angels”, the 18-year-old wrote on social media, under a black and white photograph that portrays him with two large angel wings. His family, friends and passions: motorbikes and sport. In particular boxing, which he practiced at ‘Anthea Fitness’ in Massa Finalese.

«Joseph he had been training with us for six years – recalls Gaetano Ferraresi, Kick Boxing master –. I’ve seen him grow up, he was really very young when he started coming here to the gym. When he started working (first for a ceramic company, then for Titan) he had stopped, but we had started training again a month ago. The last time I saw him was Thursday, exactly one day before the tragic accident. There are no words in the face of such a great drama.” Many emotional messages were written by friends on social media: “You flew away so soon that I didn’t even have time to see you one last time. You were the strongest boy I ever met. You’ll always be in my heart. Hello my little one, at least smile up there.”
