The fifty-one-year-old worker who last Monday 8 April fell from the roof of a company shed in via Carrara, between Latina Scalo and Sermoneta, did not make it. A flight of over seven meters which had made it necessary to transport the Romanian national worker by air ambulance to the San Camillo hospital in Rome, where he had been hospitalized with a reserved prognosis in the intensive care unit of the hospital in the capital. 48 hours ago, exactly two weeks after struggling between life and death following the accident at work, the man died due to the very serious injuries he sustained.

The frightening fall from the ceiling of the warehouse of the company that deals with mechanical constructions, in fact, had caused him a head injury, a chest injury and several multiple fractures to his limbs, which proved fatal for the fifty-one-year-old. According to what was reconstructed by the staff of the labor inspectorate and the ASL prevention service, who intervened that morning together with the police officers to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident, the worker was in the structure in via Carrara on behalf of an individual company , called to repair the roof where there was a water leak, from which it had then fallen. The investigations began immediately by the technicians who deal with the supervision of labor and social legislation, coordinated in the province of Latina by Doctor Ionta, who also proceeded to access all the company documentation, in order to evaluate any requirements in the event that irregularities were identified. Investigations that have not yet been completed, aimed at understanding what the man was doing on the roof and, above all, how it was possible for the roof to collapse under his feet.
That of the fifty-one year old is yet another accident at work in this first two months of 2024, during which there were as many as 531 accidents in the province of Latina alone, as recalled a few days ago by CGIL, CISL and UIL. «A number which, after Rome, places our territory in second place for insecurity – the words used by the three general secretaries Massafra, Cecere and Garullo –. Insecurity which, unfortunately, often turns black: 11 people died at work throughout Lazio, 9 in Rome and 2 in Latina”. To which must be added the death 48 hours ago. «In these first 4 months, in the Capital area alone, 826 checks were carried out on construction sites, of which 76% were found to be irregular» adds the general secretary of the Fillea-Cgil of Frosinone and Latina Alessio Faustini: «Many the protests, including illegal and irregular work, which is on the rise, and the lack of training. Numbers that make the topic of training more relevant than ever throughout the region, both for company workers and self-employed workers, but also that of contracts and inspections.”
