The meeting, also organized by the Young Democrats, is dedicated to the city and the political community to celebrate Liberation Day. Will be held starting at 6pm at the theatre.

“APRIL 25TH, WHO ARE YOU?” is the theme of the meeting that will be held tomorrow, April 24, at the “Mariella” Theater in Monopoli, starting from 6.00 pm.

The meeting, organized by the Democratic Party of Monopoli and the Young Democrats, is dedicated to the city and the political community to celebrate Liberation Day.

The moment of knowledge and in-depth analysis is entrusted to the viewing of a historical film from 1951, ACHTUNG! BANDITS! of the director Carlo Lizzani, a cinematic masterpiece capable of offering a compelling and touching look at the partisan resistance during the Second World War, celebrating the heroes who fought for the liberation of our country. The film, in fact, is the protagonist Gina Lollobrigidareconstructs a real page in the history of the Resistance, in which a battalion of Alpine troops joined the Genoese partisan formations to face the Nazi-fascist militias and liberate the territory.

The event will be enriched by the participation of prof. Ferdinando Pappalardoformer professor at the University of Bari, senator of the Italian Republic and currently national vice-president of the ANPI, who will bring his precious testimony and vision regarding the meaning and importance of APRIL 25th in Italian history.

The professor will impersonate on April 25th itself and will be interviewed by four young people on stage, also answering questions from those present in the room.

“APRIL 25th is not a political party – underlines the secretary of the PD, Prof. Michele Suma – it is not a “divisive” celebration, as some would like, but is instead a celebration of the Italian republic, a great celebration of the people, the celebration of happiness for the freedom achieved”.

Citizens are invited to participate in this moment of memory, knowledge and reflection, to honor the past and look to the future with awareness.
