Which is better: Vodafone or Fastweb? Which one to choose today?

Right now, is Fastweb or Vodafone better? Let’s talk in general terms, because obviously, to understand whether it is better to have a subscription with Vodafone today or with Fastweb, we should take into consideration every single situation and the relationship with every single offer.

What we can venture to say is that today, and that from now to the next few months, the liveliest brand could be that of Fastweb. Vodafone will in fact be managed as an independent company by the parent company Vodafone Group at least until the end of 2024, but Vodafone’s interest in ensuring that the customer base grows is practically nil.

This is because, let us remind you for the most inattentive, Vodafone Group has decided to sell Vodafone Italia to Fastweban agreement that will be operational in all respects in the first months of 2025. Therefore Fastweb and Vodafone will be a single company barring problems that the antitrust presents, which however are considered very unlikely for now.

The fact is that Fastweb is the brand that, as far as we know now, is destined to remain and grow in the Italian market, while Vodafone is a brand that will disappear shortly anyway. The Vodafone group has allowed Fastweb to use the Vodafone brand for some time, but Fastweb will have to pay a kind of rent to the Vodafone Group.

On the other hand, as we have already written in other posts, in the long term it is very likely that in the end the company will simply be called Fastweb and will therefore try to strengthen itself not only in the fixed sector, where Fastweb has always been very rooted, well present and has all in all a good reputation, but also in mobile, where today Fastweb is simply a virtual company with a fairly limited market. From 2025, Fastweb will also be a real operator in mobile, equipped with its own network because it will be able to use the network acquired from Vodafone, so we will have a new super Fastweb that is also very strong in mobile.

Even from the point of view of expansion in “additional” and in any case non-core services, such as energy, for example, or in the planning of large advertising campaigns, certainly between now and the next few weeks we will see a very active Fastweb, to the detriment of a Vodafone which will slowly, without fail, pull back the oars a bit. After all, why spend on advertising in a business that has actually already been sold?
