Yesterday evening, Monday 22 April 2024, the soldiers of the Verona Radiomobile Section, assisted by colleagues from the San Michele Extra station, arrested two men who attempted a home burglary.

Specifically, a resident of via dei Gelsi contacted the Carabinieri Operations Center to report having noticed two subjects climb over the fence of an uninhabited house after the recent death of the elderly ownersproviding the operator with a precise description of the fugitive couple.

A 23-year-old and a 22-year-old were arrested

The latter, who had moved cautiously in the light of an electric torch, then the glass of one of the windows was shattered with a stone to be able to access the interior of the home. Once they noticed the arrival of the Army patrols, they quickly fled through the gardens of the neighboring houses, thus thinking of escaping the soldiers.

The Carabinieri, however, were able to count on the decisive help of the residents who gradually reported the position of the fugitivesfinally, blocked along Via della Prateria: they are a 23-year-old Kosovar citizen and a 22-year-old Albanian, both known to the Police Force. For foreigners, arrest and accompaniment, upon order of the Public Prosecutor, to the city prison is inevitable.

Once again, the collaboration provided by citizens in reporting suspicious incidents to the police, with such timeliness and precision as to be able to obtain important results in combating property crimes, proved to be invaluable.

Finally, it is stated that the measure was adopted on the initiative of the proceeding Command and that, due to the principle of the presumption of innocence, the guilt of the person subjected to investigations in relation to the activities in question will be definitively ascertained only where it occurs irrevocable sentence of conviction or similar forms
