The 19th edition of Golden Scissors – National pruning championship for polyconic vase-trained olive trees organized by AMAP, as part of the Innovation in the field – OLIVETO event, in Edagricole, closed successfully.

Seventy competitors from the regional selections of ARSAC Calabria, ARSARP Molise, LAORE Sardinia, Sicily and Abruzzo agencies and from the training courses and evaluation exams of the Olive Pruning School for reform pruning, on 3 plants each in a maximum time of 30 minutes in total . The Jury was chaired by Barbara Alfei (AMAP) and was made up of Maurizio Corbo (ARSARP), Tiziano Aleandri, Luca Feliziani and Adriano Rossi (Scuola Pruning Olivo). The pruning demonstration by Giorgio Pannelli – Olive Pruning School and the afternoon conference “The olive growing of the future passes through sustainability” was well attended, which saw the first part of the round table “Innovation for sustainable olive growing” coordinated by Edagricole , and the section dedicated to Golden Scissors, coordinated by Marco Rotoni, President of AMAP, “Nuova vita all’olivo” with Barbara Alfei and Giorgio Pannelli.

Finally, the awards ceremony: on the top step of the podium was Edoardo Dottori from Maiolati Spontini (Marche), 2024 Golden Scissors champion; the best young Luca Mariotti from the Cecchi Agricultural Institute of Pesaro. Second place was Giuseppe Romeo from Calabria, third Andrea d’Elia from Molise, Francesco Marsico from Calabria, fifth Francesco Gentili (Marche), sixth Andrea Benelli (Emilia Romagna), seventh Luca Lancuba (Campania), eighth Mauro del Mistro (Friuli), ninth Luciano Ciafardini (Tuscany), tenth Juri Presenti (Umbria). The award for the best team went to the Marche region.
