Marigliano-Milazzo free releases 77-82/Partials: 31-22; 18-23; 3-7pm; 1-6pm. Svincolati Milazzo moves on to Marigliano – Napoli and takes first place in their group, gaining access to the playoffs where they will meet Ragusa in the quarter-finals. In Campania a balanced first quarter, with the two teams facing each other blow for blow. Karavdic and Salvatico on one side and the Spera pivot on the other give life to a back-and-forth. The Campania team lights up and flies to 16-9, hitting repeatedly from the arc with Captain Longobardi in evidence. Halfway through the half, coach Trimboli calls a time-out to try to reverse the trend but the hosts find a double-digit lead (+11).
In the final it is once again the big man Karavdic who brings Milazzo back to a single-digit deficit (31-22). At the start of the second period Svincolati has a new start with the goals of Scredi and Battaglia which go back up to -5. The locals decidedly regained their lead in the score in just a few minutes, extending to +14 in the middle of the quarter. The Mamertine reaction was furious, resulting in -7 2 minutes after the long rest (46-39). A triple brings Marigliano back into double figures, broken by a 0-6 break with Scredi and Manfrè and in the 20th minute the score is 49-45. The second half opens with a back and forth between Bolletta who hits twice from the arc and Longobardi. The tie at 54 is perfected by Battaglia.
We fight ball after ball, the first overtaking (57-58) comes with Karavdic. The center of Svincolati is on fire, Marigliano equalizes at 61 and in the final seconds Spera makes an impact after Battaglia’s new triple. In the last quarter after three minutes the balance was not broken. Scredi strikes from the arc but Spera closes the distance. Karavdic again asserting himself on both sides of the pitch for the plus 4 in the middle of the quarter. Longobardi and Ingrosso don’t give up, Manfrè gives the +2 and Marigliano overtakes with Cimminella (77-76) two minutes from the end.
The ending is all about Milazzo who turns the situation around with Salvatico and Scredi. The attacks stop and Karavdic sets the score at 77-82 from free throws. President Giambò’s team, in their first year of Interregional Serie B, achieves an important objective that will lead them to compete for promotion. Milazzo is today among the best eight teams in southern Italy. Game 1 of the Playoffs will take place on May 8th in Ragusa, game 2 in Milazzo on May 12th, possible game 3 on the 14th again in Ragusa.
