Maimone: “I created a link between Lombardy, Liguria and Basilicata under the sign of the culture of sustainability”

AgenPress. After the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, also the President of Liguria region Giovanni Toti confirmed its support for the inclusion of the Southern Area of Basilicata in the list of World Heritage Sites.

The project was started by the Gal “La Cittadella del Sapere”, whose Director is Nicola Timpone and by the journalist Biagio Maimone.

The Southern Area of Basilicata includes 27 Municipalities, the Pollino National Park, the Lucanian Apennines National Park Val d’Agri Lagonegrese and Maratea. Involving as many Italian regions as possible in a cooperation project to enhance the cultural and artistic heritage and also the local traditions and economies, in the name of environmental culture and sustainability, is the objective set by “The Cittadella del Sapere” and Biagio Maimone, who, in the short term, will form the “Progetto Ricas Italia” Association, whose aim is the creation of a network of institutions and citizens committed to spreading the culture of sustainability.

The “Progetto Ricas Italia” Association, in spreading the culture of caring for the environment and sustainability, supported by the culture of cooperation and solidarity, aims not only to combat pollution of the planet, but also to defeat material poverty, moral poverty and cultural poverty.

This is an ambitious project that aims to reach Europe and the territories of the entire universe, indicating Basilicata as a model of green economy and a model of the culture of naturalistic and environmental beauty, which combines love for nature with love for human beings.

The President of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti wrote to the Governor of the Basilicata Region Vito Bardi:Dear President, I am referring to the initiative which sees your Region committed to the proposal to include the Southern Area of Basilicata in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. I consider the proposal worthy of appreciation and I hereby wish to congratulate the initiative and express the support of the Liguria Region for the candidacy.

The Southern Area of Basilicata stands out not only for its particular scenic beauty and ancient history and culture, but also for particular attention to the ‘green’ evolution of its territory”. The letter forwarded by Giovanni Toti to Vito Bardi highlights the unifying force of the culture of beauty and the green evolution of Italian territories.

Also the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fountain has already expressed its willingness to cooperate for sustainability and the values of culture and traditions by stating in one of its communications: “Dear President, I hereby wish to congratulate and express the appreciation and support of the Lombardy Region for the proposed candidacy of the Southern Area of Basilicata as a World Heritage Site, which stands out for its scenic beauty, history and millenary culture. What unites us is the desire to cooperate for the good and growth of the entire country and to promote a development model based on ecological sustainability and the value of traditional knowledge”.

Biagio Maimone underlined in this regard: “Basilicata, Lombardy and Liguria are united in the desire to initiate a cultural process which has as its sole vector the growth and green evolution of human society. These are territories with different morphological and historical profiles, which intend to make their own a single and majestic project which, in their diversity, discovers its ideological, economic and social convergence. They are territories that wish to cooperate in the interest of everyone, citizens and nature, in order to create fertile territories and spaces of human and sustainable growth. For this reason I wanted to create a link between Lombardy, Liguria and Basilicata under the sign of the culture of sustainability and I aim to involve other Regions too”.

It is very clear that Biagio Maimone conforms, in carrying out his journalistic commitment, to the contents of his essay entitled “Creative Communication for socio-humanitarian development”.

Support and recognition also came from the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, from the Minister for Institutional Reforms and Simplification Alberta Casellati.

Biagio Maimone wanted to highlight that Italy, through the southern area of Basilicata, rich in water, traditions, as well as a harbinger of an attitude attentive to the natural dimension, to the philosophy of harmony and respect for creation, could become an example bright for Europe and for the whole world.

Maimone also underlined that the natural heritage belongs to everyone and that, therefore, it must be preserved as it is the most precious resource that belongs to man, so it is undeniable that the Southern Area of Basilicata represents an innovative model of green economy , as it is founded on respect and protection of the territory and, at the same time, of traditions.
