15th “National Dante Award”, a high school student from Augustana wins – La Gazzetta Augustana

AUGUSTA – The student Giulia Vaiasicca of the 4th B class of Scientific high school of the “Megara“, was awarded first place at the fifteenth edition of the “National Dante certificate“, banned from the “Rita Levi Montalcini” high school in Casarano (Lecce), with the patronage of the University of Salento and the territorial school office of Lecce.

The competition is reserved for students in the penultimate and last classes of upper secondary education institutions, who have obtained a grade of no less than 8/10 in Italian in the final ballots of the past 2022-2023 school year. The works of the participating students had to be sent electronically to the organization of the competition by April 10th. The awards ceremony took place online during the celebration of the National classical high school night in the Salento school, last Friday evening.

The winner Giulia Vaiasicca, accompanied by the literature teacher of the “Megara”, Nicoletta Priviterawas awarded for her essay on the importance of writing, from Dante’s Comedy, an example of how writing can be a mirror in which the medieval world and universe are reflected, to the present, in which writing is confirmed as a means for knowledge, reflection, change and development of human civilization.

There judging commission complimented the Augustan student “for the excellent work done – we learn from the “Megara” note – for having been able to combine the knowledge learned during the course of studies with in-depth and personal reflections, and for having developed a text in which literature, philosophy, politics and history are intertwined in order to demonstrate how the majority of cognitive operations can become possible only thanks to the existence of writing and how they are not even thinkable without writing“.

Great satisfaction is expressed by the school director Renato Santorowho in the same note congratulates the high school student on behalf of the entire “Megara” community.
