The death of Carlo Lenatti, the unions: “The culture of safety at work must be strengthened, as a model of social and economic development”

“This morning, Carlo Lenatti (in the photo), 38 years old, owner of an agricultural company, was crushed by his excavator, during some excavation works in a very narrow road in the hamlet of Torriggia, in the municipality of Laglio in the province of Como.

As a unitary provincial union of the agri-food and construction sectors, we publicly express our closeness to the family of poor Carlo.

Despite the pain and tears, we cannot help but express our growing concern for such tragic events involving our Province.

A month ago Luca Manzoni, a 51 year old surveyor, tragically died crushed by prefabricated wooden walls in Valdidentro and today Carlo Lenatti, from Montagna in Valtellina, dies crushed under the weight of his excavator.

2024 is dramatically highlighting how much need there is for education, training and information on health and safety in the world of work.

It is not a question of self-employment or employee work, work is work and one cannot leave one’s life in the hands of fate and always attribute death at work to pure fatality.

We work and we will do so even more vigorously, so that in all the places where we can exercise our action, the culture of safety at work is strengthened, as a model of social and economic development”.
