It is Emanuele Alvaro of the Maravè ice cream shop in Rome, in Campo de’ Fiori, who won the “Premio Palatino d’Oro”, the competition organized by the Italian Ice Cream Makers Association (AIG) which took place today at the headquarters of the Centrale del Latte in Rome, at in which the best Italian ice cream parlors participated.

The first prize winner automatically enters the final phase of the Italian Ice Cream Making Cup, organized in November in Rome by the Italian Ice Cream Makers Association.

The event was born from the desire to celebrate the culinary tradition based on the fresh milk produced and distributed by the plant, and consolidates the link with the consumers of today and tomorrow.

A further opportunity to reiterate the centrality of the Company as a point of reference for high quality fresh milk, which fits perfectly into the relaunch plan developed by the Company’s top management after the transfer of ownership to the Municipality of Rome and to the farmers of Lazio, which includes the “Bartist” project inaugurated last February, for the supply of fresh milk to the bars of the capital and which will continue in the coming months with the launch on the market of new ice cream products under the Centrale brand.

«By hosting the competition of the Italian Ice Cream Makers Association, the Centrale del Latte di Roma confirms its commitment to supporting the artisanal ice cream sector and to the valorisation of our artisan talents», declared the President of the Centrale del latte di Roma, Fabio Massimo Pallottini. «As AIG knows well, the excellence of Italian ice cream is only possible thanks to the use of high quality milk and cream and this is why the best ice cream makers, knowing the excellent standards that Centrale offers to consumers, turn to to us and to the farmers of Lazio”, concludes Pallottini.

«The Coppa Italia is not just a competition but is also an important moment because it gives Italian ice cream makers the opportunity to experiment with new tastes and trends» explained the general secretary of the Italian Ice Cream Makers Association Claudio Pica. «In this stage of qualifications, excellence played an important role: on the one hand Italian artisanal ice cream today among the raw materials of our Made in Italy, on the other the Centrale del Latte di Roma, a great economic reality and point of reference in the production and distribution of fresh milk. Together with the prestigious Palatino d’Oro competition, our ice cream makers also attended seminars on fresh milk to enhance the combination of milk and ice cream”, concludes Pica.

The competing ice cream makers challenged each other to prepare the best chocolate ice cream, using Centrale’s milk and fresh cream as a preparatory base.

Judging the preparations, a jury of experts composed of: Mario Serani, Vice President and Ambassador of Italian ice cream in the world; Saverio Troncone, teacher at the Centrale del Latte in Rome; Rosario Nicodemo, Ambassador of Italian ice cream in the world and World Ice Cream Champion 2024; Ciro Chiummo, World Pastry Champion; Eugenio Morrone, Ambassador of Italian ice cream in the world and World Ice Cream Champion.

The day also included a training seminar for students from hotel institutes, a tasting of fresh products from the Centrale del Latte di Roma and the artisanal ice cream produced by the Association’s ice cream makers and a professional course on the properties of milk.
