Word of the day: “busy bragging”

Psychological research shows that busy people are happier than those who have nothing to do. But there are limits, beyond which the situation is reversed.

So the world of work has a new word that highlights the excesses and risks of daily over-commitment.

This is “busy bragging”, a neologism that comes from the union of two English words: busy, occupied, and to brag, which means to keep busy.

How widespread the phenomenon is is demonstrated by conversations in those few free moments of the day, during which people do not fail to list their many commitments, thus highlighting that they have a full, busy and therefore successful life. This is probably true, but not without negative effects on the psychophysical balance.

Busy bragging consumes a lot of mental energy and can lead to heavy forms of stress.

The technological revolution that allows us to be increasingly faster and more dedicated to production has made the situation worse.

A circuit that represents a real mental trap, into which we all risk falling, thinking of measuring our value with the quantity of commitments to be fulfilled. The countermeasures? Get enough sleep, make time for yourself, relax and have fun with friends and loved ones.
