An event was held on Tuesday 23 April at the Arpa FVG headquarters in Palmanova technical meeting with all the municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia that have a bathing site in their territory.
A meeting preparatory to the start of the bathing season organized by the Prevention, Food Safety and Veterinary Public Health Service of the Central Directorate for Health, Social Policies and Disability in collaboration with the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection.
The meeting was organized for the purpose of explain to local administrations interested monitoring procedures of bathing waters and information methods in case of evidence of critical issues. The obligations due to the Municipalitiesalways in the event of episodes of temporary exceeding of the legal limits, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation on bathing.
The 2024 beach season will officially begin on May 1st.
During the bathing season, marine, lagoon and internal fresh waters in which bathing is practiced are subjected to controls for the purposes of protecting the health of bathers and improving environmental quality. National and European legislation provides for monthly sampling for the evaluation of microbiological parameters starting from the month before the opening of the bathing season. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. The sampling calendar is established before the start of the bathing season and communicated to the Ministry of Health.
In 2024 the first sampling was carried out on 15-16 April: no critical issues were detected.
Sampling will continue on a monthly basis on 13-14 May, 10-11 June, 8-9 July, 5-6 August and will end on 2-3 September. A slightly different calendar is foreseen for Lake Sauris only where the bathing season is between 27 June and 21 August.
