Cortelazzo, father and son sailors in difficulty: saved by the firefighters

Sailboat in great difficulty on the evening of April 22nd about two miles from the coast, near the town of Cortelazzo.

On board the pleasure boat, father and son, respectively 48 and 18 years old, who launched the SOS amid the waves and the strong wind that prevented them from reaching the shore. They were afraid that the boat might capsize at any moment.

The Jesolo coast guard and the Venice port authority they coordinated the emergency rescue intervention.

However, the coast guard patrol boat was unable to reach the sailing boat and so they were contacted around 7 p.m. the Bologna firefighters who took off with the helicopter to locate the boat among the waves and the strong bora wind that was moving it further and further away from the shore.

The firefighters arrived from the headquarters in Emilia Romagna.

The captain’s patrol boat then reached the two people in difficulty, father and sonwho were making the crossing to Croatia.

In addition to the CP833 “Search and Rescue” unit of the Venice Coast Guard, the patrol boat of the Caorle coast guard was also used, therefore the fire brigade vehicles, as well as the Suem 118.

After an initial recovery attempt by helicopter, the patrol boat approached the sailing vessel and recovered the two men who were then transported to shore and taken to hospital as a precaution.
