“As if it were yesterday” was written in the summer of 2021 when the artist was concluding his anorexia treatment journey that began in 2019. The song tells of the most intense moments experienced in that period of time and recalls the awareness that a wound remains part of us and our past, but this does not mean that it must still limit us in the present.
“As if it were yesterday” marks a rebirth and describes the desire to regain the freedom that an illness linked to eating disorders can take away.
Federica G. chose the “National Lilac Bow Day” as the release day, dedicated to eating disorders.
The artist comments on the song: “The song is a caress to the me of the past, it is a redemption and a personal revenge. I would like the song to offer hope to all the people who are struggling with the same illness as me because if helped, however difficult it may seem, healing is possible.”
Biography
Federica G, stage name of Federica Gianangeli, is a singer-songwriter from Macerata born in 2003. She approached music as a child and began writing her first lyrics in adolescence, after having taught herself to play the guitar. In 2022, having moved to Padua to attend university, she began working on her first EP, a concept album about eating disorders. With her music she talks about herself, her personal experiences and her most intimate feelings.
