The Frantoio Buonamici of Fiesole inaugurates the oil tourism season with a program dedicated to the valorisation of oil made in Tuscany and local excellence. From May to November, a series of events open to all offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the Fiesole hills and discover the fascinating world of extra virgin olive oil.

First appointment on May 2nd, with Olideus: zero kilometer organic aperioli with a view of the hills of Fiesole, where you can taste Tuscan excellences and the brand new cocktails with extra virgin olive oil, for which Tuscan wines and liqueurs will be used. All accompanied by live 70s-80s music. The vice president of the Tuscany Region Stefania Saccardi will speak.

The aperiolium is only the first of a series of events that promise unforgettable experiences. From aperitifs overlooking the breathtaking landscape to guided tours of the oil mill, from educational workshops for the little ones to culinary masterclasses with starred chef Matia Barciulli, there is something for all tastes and all ages. Initiatives are planned with schools, to teach young people the culture of oil and healthy eating, with students having to identify the intruder, i.e. the low quality oil among the four proposed. And more: technical oil tastings, gastronomic journeys to enhance the link between oil and food, exclusive lessons with a country chef who will reveal the secrets of Tuscan cuisine, organic and Tuscan picnics to have lunch surrounded by nature. In October and November, during the olive harvest, you can also become “olive growers for a day”, immersed in the beauty of the organically grown olive groves.

«We are committed to promoting the quality and correct use of extra virgin olive oil, informing on its health benefits and making people understand that oil is an ingredient, not a condiment. By using quality oil every dish improves”, says Cesare Buonamici, CEO of the Buonamici agricultural company. “With these initiatives we are making reality what the agri-food councilor, Stefania Saccardi, strongly wanted, namely the regional law on oil tourism and the plan to strengthen the presence of extra virgin olive oil in tourism circuits involving almost 500 municipalities Italians belonging to the Città dell’Olio association, of which 58 are Tuscan and among which there is that of Fiesole, where our innovative oil mill is located”.
