“The Great Rogation of Asiago between past, present and future: let’s prepare together for our most important and most beautiful tradition”. It is the invitation that comes from a spontaneous group of Asiago citizens who are convening, on the evening of Friday 26 April, at 8.30 pm in the Regency room of the Mountain Union, all those who care about the ‘protection’ of this event and its value intrinsic.

A meeting that serves to delve into the climate and spirit of this day, which for many is indispensable, reflecting on how to ‘protect’ it as much as possible from situations that are objectively distorting its meaning. Analyzing the trend that has been underway for several years now with the continuous growth in the participation of people who experience the Great Rogation more as a picnic or excursion in company than a procession of faith, many believe it is necessary and necessary to try to stem this phenomenon.

Where to start from? Certainly from the people of Asiago, many of whom, and not only among the younger ones, need to know better and rediscover the truest and deepest meaning of this tradition.

In view of the event, which this year takes place on Saturday 11 May (always on the day before the feast of the Ascension), it was decided to organize a meeting touching on some moments and salient aspects of this journey together for a day , revealing some news and giving a simple and significant gift to the participants. There will also be space for discussion, ideas, suggestions to convey correct information and awareness-raising action on this centuries-old tradition.

“We are fully aware that it is impossible to properly involve all the 1500/2000 people who usually participate – they say from spontaneous group for the Great Rogation – but we are also convinced that every Asiago resident can, indeed must, act as guarantor and guardian of the values ​​and true meaning of this undeniably particular, heartfelt and unique event. For this reason perhaps there is a need to delve deeper into the meanings of many aspects of this day from the songs to the prayers, the route, the various stages, the rituals, up to the most appropriate clothing and attitude. A knowing and rediscovering to reinvigorate the sense of faith, union and belonging that this special event contains.”
