TRENT. “It is urgent to continue with the path outlined in the political protocol signed last year, on 18 July”. The comment by Giuseppe Pallanch (CISL Fp secretary) And Andrea Bassetti (Uil Fpl EE.LL.). “There is a need to address the critical issues and provide answers to a sector in difficulty and which risks collapsing in the absence of actions and plans to relaunch public employment. Workers will see the efforts of the last few months recognized between May and June with the first money foreseen in the contractual advance contained in the agreement defined with the Province and which represents a stage in an important journey which has only begun for now”.

The forecast is around 700 retirements in provincial offices alone between now and 2028 and in the next five years, the unions highlight, it is important to prepare in terms of hiring and attractiveness of public employment. “The skills and knowledge of staff must be valorised, a mentoring process initiated and a plan developed to secure professional careers.”

The social partners have urged the provincial government to intervene”otherwise there is a risk of dramatic repercussions on the provision of services. Despite the difficulties and a sector clearly under pressure, not only due to the structural shortage of personnel, today the quality standards are high but highly at risk. But we cannot always rely on the selflessness and sense of responsibility of employees. It’s time for answers and to really start a path to support the sector at the basis of Trentino’s GDP. The wealth produced must be reinvested throughout the provincial territory starting from the suburbs and on the workers who help to guarantee it”.

Must starting from wages. “It is clear that immediately putting money into the pockets of workers is the starting point, which we have guaranteed with the signature. For this reason it is necessary to speed up payment times and allocate the missing resources to close further agreements. Strengthen wages means working at multiple levels: guarantee purchasing power to families and tackle the inflationary spiral with consequent benefits for the territory and spending capacity”.

But it’s not the only solution. “A commitment from everyone is mandatory and urgent enhance human capital and have a match between salaries, ever-increasing skills and responsibilities on the part of Pat workers, Common And Community, Apsp. It is necessary and urgent to start in May with the technical work on the tables required to address the critical issues in the municipal, community and APSP sector. Only in this way can we start working to make a strategic sector for Trentino attractive again.”

Contractual adjustments “they are a necessary element to encourage young people to undertake their own professional activity within the public sector. It’s a shame that a request that has always been unanswered is the mapping of workloads within administrations, an essential element – for Pallanch and Bassetti – to understand one of the reasons for the lack of attractiveness of the public sector.

Finally, underline the secretaries of Cisl Fp and Uil Fpl “lThe situation risks getting worse: we need an analysis of needs to develop new strategies”, conclude Pallanch and Bassetti.
