Another festive Sunday yesterday at the Catania seafront without cars but with lots of entertainment, craft markets, games, dances, sports but also cultural and artistic initiatives, all strictly outdoors. Actively present were the Plastic Free volunteers who cleaned the cliff of tons of waste left uncivilized close to the sea, operators who the mayor personally thanked for the meritorious ecological action and diffusion of the culture of environmental respect, carried out with the collaboration of the Municipality and of the Gema Consortium.
In addition to the Municipal Police present with various patrols, the State Police also patrolled the seafront with a mounted unit and the dog unit which took care of an exhibition of trained dogs.
Numerous promotional stands arranged along the seafront avenues, crowded with families with lots of children happy to be able to run around freely and use the games recently installed in the Franco Battiato (formerly Nettuno), Sciascia and Europa squares.
The autobooks for the exchange of books on an old AMT bus, managed by the municipal Culture Directorate which also promoted an exhibition of artistic paintings, were particularly popular.
Despite the large turnout of the public recorded, the slowdowns in vehicular traffic in the surrounding areas were more limited, thanks also to the corrective measures established by the Municipality to make road flows more fluid during the Lungomare FEST Catania.
