Ittiri. The “Manos de Oro Award” 2024 goes to Augusto Mola, Ittiri, Saturday 20 April 2024. The Manos de Oro Award was awarded to the artist Augusto Mola during the XIV Edition of the Waiting Ittiri Folk Festa event, which took place at the Center for the Arts in via XXV Luglio.

Son of a long tradition of ceramists, Augusto Mola has distinguished himself in recent years for his artistic production linked to Sardinia, which enhances traditional Sardinian dress through contemporary forms and expressions.
In his works, the typical characteristics of dressing in Sardinia are linked to modern lines and new faces, creating a perfect combination of representation and attention to detail, and the artistic reinterpretation of tradition in a modern key.

For this reason, Mola received the 2024 Manos de Oro Award, officially joining the prestigious “Manos de Oro” Roll of Honor.

During the event, Mola exhibited a video summary of his works most linked to the territory, and expressed warm thanks to the Ittiri Cannedu Cultural and Folk Association, which promoted the event.
“Receiving this award fills me with pride. Not only because it celebrates my very strong bond with Artistic Ceramics and the traditions of my island, but above all because it allows me to become part of a path that year after year enhances the role of art in the diffusion of culture and history of Sardinia.” Augusto Mola declared: “I heartily thank Gian Mario Demartis, Piero Simula, Baingio Cuccu, Maria Luisa Demontis, Pietro Frau and the entire organization for this prestigious recognition.

The event also brought to the attention of the public studies, future perspectives, problems and experiences of traditional dress in Sardinia, delving into the themes of dress and traditions of the island, thanks to the participation of local authorities and cultural associations, from always engaged in the promotion of the territory, between the Municipal Administration of the Municipality of Ittiri, the Archaeologist Gian Mario Demartis and Matteo Atzeni President of the “Fedora Putzu” Cultural Association, with the management and coordination of Maria Caterina Manca.
