The meteorological vagaries of this April disguised as March, which alternates between clouds and a few drops of rain with the sun, did not frighten the organizers of the Mostra della Minerva, the members of the Hortus Magnus association, who in the early afternoon of yesterday gave the at the twenty-second edition of the horticultural event that marks the Salerno spring.
“An explosion of colors in a small corner of paradise in our city” declared the mayor Vincenzo Napoli as he cut the ribbon and entered the Villa Comunale of Salerno, where exhibitors’ stands have been set up along the avenues for three days, until tomorrow evening.
Like every year, enthusiasts, tourists and the curious are spoiled for choice: from succulent plants (the adjective fat is banned for them too) to carnivorous ones, and then roses, azaleas, rhododendrons. And even smells and spices, climbers and carnivorous plants, bulbaceae, orchids. In the southern area of the villa, near the “Don Tullio” fountain, there are citrus trees and bougainvillea, while on the main avenues, artisans work straw, iron and ceramics. And then producers of honey, liquorice, seeds and vegetable dyes, as well as educational workshops and stands dedicated to children, one with wooden games, the other with the story of Trotula.
