Two people were saved today, Saturday 20 April 2024, by firefighters in Spezzano Albanese after being stuck in their house due to a fire that broke out in a warehouse below.

The fire broke out in via Mortati, on the ground floor of a two-level building. The flames and the thick smoke that came from it they trapped two people inside the apartment located on the upper floor.

Teams of firefighters from the Cosenza command intervened on site, with the Castrovillari and Rende detachments, supported by the ladder truck of the Corigliano Rossano detachment.

The firefighters, with the aid of the ladder truck, they rescued the two people from the balcony of their apartment. Subsequently, they completely extinguished the flames, preventing them from spreading to adjacent rooms, and made the site safe.

The causes of the fire are still being investigated, but the most likely hypothesis at the moment is accidental.

As a precaution, access to the warehouse and the apartment above it was prohibited pending further technical checks and the restoration of normal safety conditions. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to any person.
