At least nine Palestinians, including six children, died in an Israeli airstrike in the western neighborhood of Tel Sultan in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah. The attack hit a residential building, Gaza Civil Defense said. Rafah is currently home to more than half of Gaza’s total population, around 2.3 million people, most of whom have been displaced by fighting in the rest of the Strip.
Attacks against Rafah and Bureji refugee camp
Among the victims are Abdel-Fattah Sobhi Radwan, his wife Najlaa Ahmed Aweidah and their three children, his brother-in-law Ahmed Barhoum told AP. Barhoum lost his wife, Rawan Radwan, and their 5-year-old daughter, Alaa. “They bombed a house full of displaced people, women and children, like this“said Ahmed Barhoum.
The Israeli army launched another attack on Rafah overnight between Friday and Saturday, but no casualties were reported. On Saturday morning, however, an Israeli air attack occurred hit a house in the Burej urban refugee campi, in central Gaza, killing at least one man and wounding two others, according to authorities at the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ hospital in Deir al-Balah, where an AP journalist saw the victims.
A bakery reopens in Gaza City
A glimmer of hope has arrived in the Strip thanks to the support of the World Food Programme: A Gaza City bakery has reopened for the first time since the war began. Famine looms over the Gaza Strip and international organizations insist the situation remains alarming. Aid arrives with difficulty and the flour arrived in recent days has been used to resume activities in the bakery in Gaza City.
Fighting in the West Bank: at least ten dead
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said it had killed 10 fighters in the Nur Shams raid, in the occupied West Bank. Several IDF soldiers were wounded. Palestinian health authorities said one of those killed was a 15-year-old boy who was fatally hit by Israeli fire. The Islamic Jihad militant group has confirmed the deaths of three members.
