MERATE – Very serious accident this morning, Saturday, in via Cernuschi, just after the biscuit roundabout on viale Verdi where a 56-year-old man was hit while he was crossing the road on the pedestrian crossing. The alarm went off a few minutes before 10am when the emergency operations center was alerted to a red code, corresponding to the maximum severity.
An air ambulance was sent to the scene from Milan with medical personnel winched directly onto the street to speed up the rescue operations. An ambulance and medical vehicle were also present.
The exact reconstruction of the accident is being examined by local police officers who intervened to investigate. Mayor Massimo Panzeri was also on site. From what has been possible to reconstruct, the man was crossing the pedestrian crossing, located just before the Viale Verdi roundabout, when he was hit by a Ford Fiesta which, just after exiting the roundabout, was continuing towards Via Como. .
The impact was extremely violent and the 56-year-old was thrown to the ground. His condition immediately appeared very serious.
