He was called Manuel Cavanna and lived in Chianacce di Cortona, in the province of Arezzo, the 23 year old boy who died at work today, Friday 19 April, in a dramatic accident that occurred late in the morning in the municipality of Montepulciano, in the province of Siena. Manuel, a mechanic by profession and employee of a company in Centoia, this morning had been called from outside to intervene in a company in the Tre Berte area of the Sienese municipality where he met his death.
According to an initial reconstruction of the fatal accident at work, the 23-year-old was hit by a large metal bar that she suddenly fell from a trailer for transporting operating and agricultural machinery on which the boy was working. Manuel was hit square in the chest from an iron tube and remained lifeless on the ground. The medical aid of 118 was useless for him, as they arrived in force with the help of a helicopter. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy occurred in the square of a company that produces metal structures and horse boxes which has now been seized by the Siena Prosecutor’s Office which has opened a file on the case to ascertain the facts. Too often, however, it becomes accidents, illnesses, death” is the message of the Regional Councilor for Work Alessandra Nardini, who adds: “The relaunch of a common action by the institutions, at all levels, together with the all social partners, the business world and the trade unions, to stop what is a real massacre. Condolence and emotion are not enough, we have a duty to do more.”
“The death toll at work is a massacre that shows no sign of stopping. Once again we find ourselves mourning a life, a person who will never return to their family, their loved ones, their loved ones.
