Luisa Piacentini elected president of the Council of Local Authorities of Lazio

The municipal councilor of Marano Equo (RM), outgoing vice-president of Cal, obtained 33 votes.

The settlement session of the Council of Local Authorities of Lazio (Cal) took place today, chaired by the president of the Lazio Regional Council, in which the members of the presidency of the new council were elected.

Luisa Piacentini was elected president of Cal on the second ballot, with 33 votes out of 34 voters (one invalid ballot). At the first vote, the municipal councilor of Marano Equo (RM) stopped at 20 votes (the quorum was 21, the absolute majority of the Assembly). Already vice-president in the last council meeting, Piacentini is also a member of the Anci Lazio board of directors.

The two vice-presidents of the Assembly were then elected, Giammarco Florenzani And Pietro Nocchi. The first, municipal councilor of Torrice (FR), obtained 17 votes, while Nocchi, mayor of Capranica (VT), obtained 14. Four votes went to Alfonso Santangeli, mayor of Torrice.

Finally, the Assembly completed the composition of the new bureau by voting on the three secretarial councilors. They were elected: Vincenzo La Pegnamunicipal councilor of Aprilia (LT), with 13 votes; Aura Contarinomunicipal councilor of Cisterna di Latina (LT), with 8 votes; Marco Benedetti, mayor of Mentana (RM), also with 8 votes. Six votes went to Chiara Simonetti, municipal councilor of Ascrea (RI).

The new bureau complies with the provisions of article 5, paragraph 3, of regional law no. 1/2007), according to which a balanced presence of both genders is guaranteed, as well as the representation of non-capital municipalities.

The Decree of the President of the Lazio Region for the establishment and appointment of the members of the Cal was published last 19 March in the Official Bulletin of the Lazio Region n. 23, also including the names of the members of the Assembly.

The Council of local autonomies, established within the Regional Council in implementation of article 123, fourth paragraph, of the Constitution and articles 66 and 67 of the Statute, institutional representative body of the system of local autonomies of Lazio as well as consultation, concertation and of liaison between the Region and local authorities, in order to guarantee compliance with the constitutional and statutory principles of subsidiarity, differentiation and adequacy, and the effective participation of local authorities in the decision-making processes of the Region which affect the interests of the territories and of local communities.

The Cal, therefore, represents the institutional headquarters within which local authorities are called to take common positions regarding legislative policy and territorial and economic-social planning choices that involve them or that in any case relate to their interests.
