Attack at the Battipaglia emergency room. Meeting between the Health Management and Nursind Salerno – Ondanews.it

A constructive meeting was held on Wednesday at the offices of the Health Directorate Battipaglia hospital between the Health Director Gerardo Liguori and the representatives of Nursind Salerno Santina Polisciano and Giovanni Aspromonte, following the reports regarding assault on a healthcare worker and problems relating to the emergency room.

The meeting was characterized by a climate of absolute collaboration and mutual interest with respect to the issues raised by our secretariat.

“We appreciate the attention paid by the Management to the staff shortage, with the concrete commitment in recruiting new units for the Battipaglia Emergency Department, as well as the intention to continue with further recruitment” explained Polisciano and Aspromonte.

During the meeting crucial issues regarding theorganization of the emergency roomwhich is currently lacking and causes phenomena of aggression, patients waiting for a bed and overcrowding.

Director Liguori proved to be sensitive to these issues and concrete actions to be introduced immediately have been identified. In particular, the Management is committed to regulating the supports of the hospitalizations, a dedicate a percentage of specific beds to the emergency room it’s at review the organization of triagemoving from a counter system to global triage, in order to reduce clinical risk during assessments.

Attention was also paid to the establishment of‘Intensive short observation (Obi) with dedicated staff.

“Nursind Salerno expresses satisfaction for the attention shown by Director Liguori to our observations, especially regarding worker safety. This meeting confirms that when we sit at a table with the common objective of improving working conditions and patient safety, we can always find an agreement to make healthcare provision more effective and efficient for the population” concluded Polisciano and Aspromonte.
